Legal Requirements for MSME/Udyam Registration

For a business to obtain MSME/Udyam Registration, it must have the following documents:

  1. Aadhaar Card: Providing the applicant’ Aadhaar card is a mandatory requirement to secure MSME/Udyam Registration. In case of Sole proprietorship, Aadhaar of Sole Proprietor; in case of partnership or LLP, Aadhaar of the Partner & Authorised Signatory; in case of HUF, Aadhaar of the Karta; in case of company, then Aadhaar of the Director & Authorised Signatory.
  • PAN & GSTIN: Having PAN and GSTIN (As per applicablity of CGST Act 2017 and as notified by the ministry of MSME vide S.O. 1055(E) dated 05th March 2021) is required for Udyam Registration with effect from 01.04.2021.

Process to Obtain MSME/Udyam Registration

Step 1: Visit the official https://udyamregistration.gov.in/Government-India/Ministry-MSME-registration.htm > Register For New Enterprise who are not Registered yet as MSME

Step 2: Enter your Aadhaar number and Name of the Entrepreneur and verify it using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 3: Fill in your PAN details and validate them.

Step 4: Provide additional details such as the business’s name, type of organization (proprietorship, partnership, LLP, company), and address.

Step 5: Declare the investment in plant and machinery and turnover to categorize the business.

Step 6: Submit the form to generate your Udyam Registration Certificate which includes a unique identification number called the Udyam Registration Number.
